A BOUNTEOUS HARVEST

Have you ever wondered if your missionary work produced any positive results? The following was told me by a friend:

As a youth of 20 years old, I served in an area that brought little proselyting success. On one occasion we stopped by a house of a man and his wife. She seemed very interested in our message, but he was quite negative and threatened to kill us if we returned. Later that evening, when he was away at work, we left some reading material on the back porch for her and went our way. We figured it would probably produce zero results.

Fast forward 25 years. I was conducting a meeting in church and after the announcements, a woman got up to say the opening prayer. As she approached the pulpit, she looked toward me and said, “Hello Elder Jones.” I realized that I did not know who she was. After the meeting we talked and she introduced herself as the woman to whom we had left reading material on the back porch.

She eventually had joined the Church, along with her husband and their sons and the boys had served successful missions. Her husband later apologized for treating us so rudely and thanked us for bringing the Gospel to their lives. We never know where our missionary efforts will take us or how they will affect others for good.
