ADAM IN PREMORTALITY SECOND ONLY TO CHRIST
Bruce R. McConkie, pg. 16, of Mormon Doctrine said, “By (Adam’s) diligence and obedience (in premortality), as one of the spirit sons of God, he attained a stature and power second only to that of Christ, the Firstborn. None of all the billions of our Father’s children equaled him in intelligence and might, save Jesus only.”
Brother McConkie further stated that the angel that strengthened the Savior in the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:43) might have been Adam. (April 1985 General Conference)
BYU Professor and former associate Dean of Religious Education, Paul Hoskisson said, “Nobody killed Christ. His Father was God. Jesus freely gave up his life; He chose to die. To me the crucifixion of the Savior brings it full circle back to Adam, because Adam freely chose spiritual death to be able to create mortal life. Jesus chose, of his own accord, mortal death to create spiritual life.”
